Growing Tips & Pruning Advice
Keep the soil moist during the first year. In later years, water well on a weekly basis during prolonged dry spells.
We recommend pruning December to February.
Cut all stems back to 10cm above ground if planting in early spring or autumn. Wait until winter and do this if planting in summer. No further pruning will be necessary for the next 3-5 years while growth is vigorous.
To prune in later years, each winter when the plant is dormant, remove a fifth of your bush, cutting out from its base the oldest and lowest wood that will be carrying the fewest fruit buds.
Harvesting
You should be able to harvest from July through to August by picking off the currants.
