Growing Tips & Pruning Advice
As your plants begin to develop use straw to lay at the base of your plants to keep the emerging fruit off the soil.
Once fruits form, cover with netting to protect from birds.
Water regularly and be sure to harvest them as soon as the fruit turns perfectly red. They may benefit from a fortnightly liquid feed once they start to flower.
After the plants finish fruiting, they will start to put out runners. These are long shoots with baby plants growing off them at intervals. You can either cut these runners off or allow them to take root in the soil. Alternatively, you can carefully peg them into small pots filled with compost - leave them attached to the mother plant until the roots have established, and then you can cut them apart. See our website for further details.
Harvesting
Fruits will ripen for harvesting in the summer. Some varieties crop earlier than others, but you can expect to start picking in June, through to end of July depending on the weather.
